Remmers Protective coating for end grain (extra)
Product detailed description
Remmers Protective coating for end grain (extra)
This product is a special gel coating for protecting the end grain and end faces of wood against moisture penetration. It works exactly where your wood is most vulnerable - in the cut along the grain.
How does Remmers Protective coating for end grain work? The principle is similar to absorption, where the coating protects the end grain from soaking up water and reliably seals it.
Why choose this end grain protective coating from Remmers?
- Prevents moisture penetration into the most sensitive parts of the wooden structure
- Prevents wood rot and the undesirable increase in volume (swelling) of the coated components
- Forms a clear, elastic and hydrophobic film that works together with the wood and does not crack
- Repels water and significantly slows down the diffusion of water vapour
- Can be overcoated with commonly available coating systems - it will not spoil the look of your final woodstain or opaque paint
- Ready to use - no thinning needed, just stir thoroughly and apply with a brush
- Fast drying: can be overcoated after approx. 2 hours (at 20 °C and 65 % rel. humidity)
- Based on acrylic, with a low VOC content (< 130 g/l), a mild odour, odourless once dry
- Tool cleaning with plain water and detergent
Who is Remmers protective coating for?
For craftsmen, joiners, carpenters and home DIYers who want their timber structures to last as long as possible. Ideal for:
- Wood indoors and outdoors - cut and end faces
- Dimensionally stable components such as windows and doors
- Semi-stable components - shutters, profiled boards, garden sheds
- Non-stable components - fences, pergolas, carports, wood cladding
- Softwoods and hardwoods

How to apply Remmers protective coating
The substrate must be clean, dry and free of dust and grease. Wood moisture content: 11 - 15 % for dimensionally stable components, max. 18 % for the others. Work at a temperature of +5 °C to +25 °C.
- With non-film-forming products (low-build woodstains, oils), apply only after they have been fully applied so that they can soak in properly.
- With film-forming products (medium-build woodstains, opaque paints), apply between the first and second coat.
- Apply with a brush with plastic bristles or a flat brush. Repeat the coating in exceptional cases.
