Installing windows and doors into any material

Indu-Prog frame sleeve – our best tips

ESSVE developed the Indu-Prog frame sleeve together with, and for, Swedish window fitters. That makes installation efficient and simple.

One sleeve for any frame material

The advantage of the Indu-Prog frame sleeve when installing windows and doors is that you can use it in all materials and the installation can be adjusted. The wall material decides which screw you use with the sleeve.

Advantages of Indu-Prog

* the frame does not crack
* the sleeve does not wander
* it goes in straight when screwed in

Why use Indu-Prog?

  • The sleeve has grooves that cut through the wood fibres and so prevent the frame from cracking
  • Efficient cutting mills countersink the sleeve into the frame as needed
  • The frame is easy to adjust afterwards thanks to the 20 mm external hex
  • A centring ring stops the sleeve from “wandering” during adjustment
  • A chamfer at the bottom end of the sleeve guides it in straight when it is screwed in

Choose the right sleeve length

The sleeve comes in two lengths, 28 mm and 38 mm, so you can install the frame even when the gap width around the window varies. If the sleeve is not long enough, extend it with a spacer pad, which ensures correct installation when the gap between the frame and the wall is too large. The spacer pad simply slips onto the Indu-Prog frame sleeve.

When choosing the length, take into account the gap width (the space between the frame and the wall) and the weight of the frame being installed.

When to use 38 mm:

  • For heavy installations, e.g. front doors or larger windows, and gap widths of up to 23 mm, use the 38 mm sleeve. For a wider gap, use a spacer pad.

When to use 28 mm:

  • For lighter installations and gap widths of up to 13 mm, use the 28 mm sleeve.

Caution! The frame sleeve must reach at least 15 mm into the frame.

What to consider when installing heavier windows

When installing heavier front doors, larger windows and glazed walls, always use a 38 mm long frame sleeve.

For heavier installations into wood and for all installations into lightweight concrete, a load-spreading washer must be used.

Use a load-spreading washer for heavy installations and in lightweight concrete:

  • The load-spreading washer stabilises the installation and stops the sleeve from “eating” into the wall material.
  • The washer is mandatory for heavier installations and for installation into lightweight concrete.
  • Remember that the load-spreading washer increases the gap width by 4 mm – allow for this when choosing the sleeve length!
  • You can install the frame with a spacer pad and a load-spreading washer at the same time. The load-spreading washer must then sit right against the wall.

Installation products

The Indu-Prog frame sleeve is used for all installations – choose one of the matching Indu-Prog screws according to the wall material you are fixing into.

Did you know...

... that the frame screw was invented in the early 1970s by a carpenter from Karlskrona? ESSVE bought the patent, and until 1989 we were the only manufacturer of this product.
